Celebrating 90 years of scouting

The annual Walking for Health Butterfly walks produced some surprises this year.

Someone from Mickle Hill arrived with a photo from her garden of a butterfly to be identified. The very beautiful butterfly was a Silver Washed Fritillary. It is a large butterfly that glides as well as flying fast to chase intruders off its patch.

Walking for Health Butterfly Walks

Our first surprise was seeing a Silver Washed Fritillary near the balancing pond (A first for our butterfly count at Sandhurst).

Both bands regularly host concerts in the Sandhurst area, as well as appearing further afield.  So we look forward to welcoming you to hear the ‘Sounds of Sandhurst’.

For more information about joining the band, or in booking one of the bands for an engagement, please visit the band website - www.sandhurstband.co.uk.

Formed in 1908, Sandhurst Silver Band is made up of two individual ensembles.  Sandhurst Community Brass, a non-contesting band made up of players ranging in ability, and Sandhurst Silver Band who compete nationally at the top level of brass banding.  The bands have their own bandroom in the centre of Sandhurst and as a development area, are looking to create a youth band in the near future.
